SUCCESS!

We produced our first few bottles of homemade maple syrup yesterday and we are delighted to see the golden liquid sitting on our table. This is the batch we started on Monday, didn't boil Tuesday and finished Wednesday. We started with forty quarts of sap and ended with one quart of maple syrup ready for our buckwheat pancakes this morning.

Mary used an hydrometer to know when the sap had become syrup. Once the float stayed above the red line we knew it was ready to bottle.

First the syrup goes through a filter bag.

Each jar is carefully filled to the top then laid on its side to cool.

Owen is ready to sample his first homemade maple syrup.

Buckwheat blueberry pancakes with our own homemade maple syrup, simply delicious.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.
