Time for a quick tour of the house as it stands today.
The exterior of our house is now 90% complete. Two gable ends still need to be filled in and a few pieces of metal siding around the front door are missing.
This is the front entrance. The ceiling now has the aluminium soffit but you can see the missing steel around the door..
Back porch ceiling is done but I need to cut and install a strip of siding over the sliding door. That yellow patch is the trap-door to the attic area. I need to paint it white.
Here Ben is framing out my office which is just inside the back door. It will be just a nook in the wall, tiny but functional.
We've stacked our IKEA kitchen cupboards in the guest bedroom. Once the "great-room" is taped and mudded we will assemble the cupboards with the help of family and friends.
This is the mechanical room with our 60 gallon pressure tank ready to go to work. Most homes have a 20 gallon tank but I wanted a large one to minimize the number of times our pump would turn on every day. Remember we are on solar, so every time the pump runs it is a drain on our batteries.
Master bathroom. The tub you see will be in the guest bathroom but we placed it here to keep it far away from any accidental damage. (like someone dropping his hammer while working on the drywall)
Connie was asking about the "Big O" tube. That is what we call that black 4" drainage tube they place around the foundation of your home to take the water away.
Tomorrow I'll post more pictures of the other rooms.

Thanks about the "big O tube" explanation. I guess that would sort of be like a French drain runoff pipe to us. Is that 60 gallon tank, I think you call it a pressure tank, is that your hot water heater? I don't see any electical boxes, have they been installed yet? REALLY enjoy seeing you and Mary build your house. Disappointed every day there isn't a post. What in the world will I do when the house is completed, LOL. I guess I am a vouyer (SP) at heart. Hi Mary! Connie
ReplyDeletep.s. Did you know that Tony has taken and completed a 18 wheeler truck-driving course. He is ready to hit the road and do some long-hauldriving for a while.
