Drywall Day One

Carol and Don arrived shortly after 9 and we devised a plan for the day. We would work collectively when extra muscles were needed and separately or in twos when smaller jobs needed to be tackled. I was anxious to see the first sheet of drywall up so we selected the kitchen wall as our starting point.

And here it is our first sheet of drywall is up and almost secure.

Once the drywall was in place it was Don's job to find the electrical boxes and cut out the drywall so we could get the plug or switch in.

Carol measured and cut the drywall.  Yes she measured twice, cut once and no mistakes. Yea!

Fitting in the small pieces wherever we could use up some of the cut-offs.

Here I am trying to frame out the patio door so we can drywall up to the frame accurately.

Wow! we are really moving. Carol measures, Don attaches and the wall is soon covered. Don brought up his scaffold and it has made the whole job so much easier. I like getting pushed around on the job.

Mary went ahead of us to make sure the walls were smooth and all protrusions were removed.

Are we done yet? I'm exhausted and need to find some new pants.

Half done and today we will get the other half done. After all this hard work we went out for a well deserved supper by the lake.

  1. How wonderful to have family visit. What a bonus when they help with a task that probably went twice as fast with them there. Now that the drywall is going on the walls your house will seem even brighter !! You continue to amaze us. Hope today goes just as well. The temperatures are certainly more conducive to work after that much appreciated rain we got yesterday.
