Closets, Ditches and Soffits

Today was another productive day. Ben and I worked inside building walls and the two front closets. Mary, Alex and Eric worked on burying the BIG O tube and Herb and Jeremy worked on the ceiling on the back porch.

First on the agenda was getting the last of the kitchen cupboards out of the truck. Now everything is safe and dry in the house waiting for Valery to come and help assemble them.

Then Alex, Eric and Mary went to work digging ditches to bury the BIG O tube. Here Alex swings the pick which is almost as big and probably weighs about the same as Alex.

Eric's turn, and what a fine job the boys did. Now when it rains we won't have puddles all over the yard.

Look closely at the above picture; that's brother helping brother. It is such a pleasure to have these boys here helping Mary.

Inside Ben is busy building the wall in the laundry room and attaching the radiant floor manifold to the brace he inserted in the wall.

On the deck Jeremy and Herb have been busy installing the soffit and covering the beams with the charcoal trim. Looking so good.

Oh, oh, we lost half of Jeremy. Not to worry he is just leaning over above the ceiling to mark the location of the lights. Each location required a 3 inch hole neatly cut to fit a pot-light.

Back inside Ben and I are building the closet walls. We will have two 8 foot closets which will make it easy for us to keep coats, boots and snowshoes organized for the winter; can't wait.

Here Ben staples the sill gasket to the bottom of the wall before we lift and pound it into place. This keeps the wood away from the concrete and we hope will help soundproof the house. Time will tell.

Today (Friday) it is supposed to rain. Ben and I can still work on the walls but Alex and Eric will have to wait for a sunny day before they return.

Looking forward to having Margaret, Valery and Andrew visit next week. Summer is slipping away.

Thanks for stopping by and for sending us your comments. We appreciate everyone who writes. It is so good to hear from you.
