NEW NEIGHBOUR

We've been here off and on for the past five years and this was the first time we've seen this guy.

He showed up the other day looking for a handout and any greens that he could munch on. Maybe with all the brush we've cleared he was easier to see or maybe he moved in because of the openness created as we cut and cleared the trees. Just another critter who has taken up residence close by.

The black-flies have also arrived and are making their presence know. There are just a few but soon we will need our bug shirts if we are working outside.

We are learning that every month brings new challenges and opportunities and we must plan ahead to be ready and organized for the changes.

There is a cycle to living close to the land and slowing we are learning that cycle. Now we are entering the new growth season followed by harvesting, cottagers returning, outdoor activities, BBQ on the deck, long summer days, warm summer nights, fall colours, gardens to bed, cottages been closed, wood been stacked for winter, cooler days, wet days, cold days, snow days, shorter days,  but then the sun starts to hang around longer and the snow begins to melt and once again we are into new growth and longer days.

We love the seasons, the changing landscapes and critters that come and go as the seasons pass. We are so fortunate to live this life in harmony with the land and animals we share it with.

Time to enjoy another sunrise, another sunset, a chance to spend the day outside.

Enjoy whatever you are doing and if you are on the road be careful.

  2. Hi Ad and Gertie;

    Thanks for keeping an eye on us. It's called a groundhog and are considered a pest around farms and fields here. The sun is shining this morning so we will be outside working.
    Does Ad have any projects at the moment?

    1. Yes, he's reparing the damage from the RV and in the new house of the neighbours must come a bathroom and in a few months a new kitchen......so it keeps him from the streets. Here it is raining and only13 degrees. Maroc is often on our minds!
