Hitches, Cotton and Quail

If you've ever pulled a heavy trailer you know how road vibrations can be transferred from the trailer to the tow vehicle making for an unsafe and uncomfortable ride. Thanks to advice from friends Marvin and Annie we use an "Airsafe" hitch and are very happy. This hitch has an air-bag which acts like a spring,(click on picture) greatly reducing the bouncing motion a trailer can get when driving on uneven pavement and believe me there is a lot of uneven pavement in this world.

New Mexico once depended on the cattle industry for employment but today a variety of crops are grown, cotton being one of them. This cotton field is just outside Rock Hound state park near Deming.

Cotton plants, up close, and ready for harvest. (Mary took these pictures and did a great job)

We see lots of these little guys running across our camp site every morning. They are "Gamble Quail" and like the native bird of New Mexico, the Road Runner, prefer to run rather than fly. Very cute to watch.
