Early Morning Balloon Launch

Yesterday we were up early to enjoy the Lake Havasu Balloon Fest. We wanted to see the ballons launch at 8 am so made sure we were at the park by 7.

Once we were inside we had to walk through the concessions booths before we reached the launch field, clever marketing isn't it.

Waiting for the announcer to give permission to start unloading. (Mary's picture)

The sun is up and it's time to get airborne so fire up those propane torches and lets get some hot air for lift-off.

We were up close and personal with the launch teams. There were no restrictions on crowd movement or how close you could get to the balloons. If you wanted to help, I'm sure they would find something for you to do but I just wanted to enjoy the scene and take pictures.

The morning was perfect for launching, clear skies, very little air movement and over 30 balloons took to the skies.

They would even take you for a ride, cost was $185.00 and some of those riders were up for a long, long time.

So who does this look like? ........................  "Humpty Dumpty" and is flown by Rich Lawhorn.

Humpty Dumpty from the ground below.

I have another set of evening shots which I'll post tomorrow.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by.
