SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION

Today has been a perfect solar day, plenty of sunshine, very little cloud. Mike was here early to install the first array of panels on our first pole. The process went very smoothly and tomorrow he will be working inside installing the battery box, inverter and charger.

The panels are light and easily handled by one person.

Two people make the job easier and safer.

The panels are on a pole 11 feet above the ground, 6 panels to a pole. Each group of 6 panels will give us 7 kw of power.

The first array is complete, facing south and ready to work.

Thanks for stopping by and we will have more pictures tomorrow.

7 p.m.

Received a phone call from the guys doing our wood stove installation. They decided to do it on Wednesday rather than Friday so ...................

Mary did a quick paint job on the stove as it had been outside for two years and now looks brand new again.

Can you tell we are anxious to get into the house? No furniture but the rugs are down.

Gertie and Ad, are you safe in New York?

  1. Art everything is looking great. I am impressed with the floor for sure and the solar panels. Are the planels self tracking? I also like all the windows you have. Mike and I have talked about wishing we were close enough to help. We are pretty good painters.

  2. The solar solution you have going there is pretty smart. I assume that either your roof wasn't suitable for the panels or wasn't facing the correct direction for optimal generation.

  3. Our roof is facing south and we are building a passive solar home so have lots of large windows in the south wall. I elected not to have the panels on the roof for two reasons. 1) easier to clean the snow off when they are mounted on a pole and I can reach them from the ground. (safer too) 2) no penetrations through the roof, less chance of leaks.

If you want to know the size and brand of the inverter and charger let me know.
