HOT AND DRY

We finally have some summer weather.

We collect rain water off our roof and store it in 275 gallon tanks. We have four tanks but only two are in use. My next project will be placing the other two tanks in position to collect rainwater as well. That should give us sufficient capacity to sustain our beds through any dry spell this summer.

If you click on this picture you will see all the black-flies swarming around Mary's head. Bug shirts are still essential at least for a few more weeks. Deer flies are next and when they bite, they take a hunk of skin big enough to chew on. With deer flies we take a different approach; sticky tape. It's another fashion statement as you will soon see.

Today I will finish painting the beds and then install the covers. Always something!

Enjoy the day and safe travels everyone.

  1. It has been absolute ages since getting caught up with you ALWAYS busy folks. You continue to amaze me with all the labour of love you put into your activities. Your gardens look wonderful and hopefully you will get to enjoy the fruits of your hard work and NOT the deer !!! We must get over for a visit this season. The winter was just much much too long.
