SAFELY HOME

We left Florida early Sunday morning planning to stay at a state park in North Carolina for the night. GPS took us down some back roads and then to a dead end, but no state park. Ended up parked in Virginia at their welcome center for the night. We weren't alone as there were a number of RVs parked beside us but no highway trucks which meant a quiet safe night for everyone.

Saturday was one of the best days in Florida, warm enough to sit outside. After walking over to the farmers' market Mary got out her craft bag and enjoyed a few hours in the sun.

The farmers' market in St Augustine is full of unique vendors such as this old pickup tuck with a load of flowers for sale.

We were there early, before the crowds and some vendors were just setting up. It's a great market and an unadvertized bonus being so close to the Anastasia state park.

Now we are home, enjoying coffee by the fire and planning our next escape.

Safe travels everyone and thanks for stopping by.

ST. AUGUSTINE

Last week Tony, whom we met in Arizona ten years ago, drove over for a visit. He lives just west of St Augustine and it was great to see him. We had a lot of catching up to do.

St Augustine is the oldest city in North America and we decided to do lunch and a walking tour. (Thanks Tony)

The streets are narrow and traffic is limited but the restaurants and shops are plentiful.

Next was a tour of the fort, first built out of wood. After it had been destroyed three times in battle it was decided to build with stone; it's still standing.

Inside there was plenty to see, hear and participate in.

Thanks Tony for looking after us so supurbly.

Today Mary and I walked the beach this morning. We usually walk as far as this pier about an hour walk along the beach.

By the time we get home, Mary usually has a pocket full of shells, some for the grandkids, some for her own collection.

It's been a wonderful holiday, the last few days especially relaxing now that we know Sherri doesn't need another operation. It will soon be time to head north and cold temperatures once again.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

FINALLY

Finally have some decent weather and today we enjoyed a day on the beach. The water is extremely high partly due to the sub-tropical storm of the past few days along with the pull of the new moom.

The red flags were up warning people to stay out of the water as the surf was rough.

That didn't stop us from enjoying our walk and getting our feet wet anytime the surf rolled up higher than expected.

I think tomorrow will be much the same.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

IT'S COOL

We are still camped at Anastasia SP, Florida and will be here for another week. Our camp site is just a short walk from the beach but the last two days have been cool and wet; not ideal beach weather. Next week looks warmer and sunnier.

Today we discovered, quite by accident, a farmers' market just on the edge of the park. This market is so popular that folks from St Augustine drive to it. The one coffee vendor from Nigeria was recommended so Mary tried their coffee; best ever.

Lots of local farmers selling everything from vegetables, to honey and beef, chicken and pork.

Did I mention Mary and coffee? This company imports their coffee beans from Nigeria, Costa Rica and

The market even provides live music and this band of troubadours were playing a song about "Hand me down by walking cane" which I could relate to.

We plan to visit again next Saturday. It's within walking distance and an enjoyable way to spend a cool Saturday morning; only 14*C here today.

Safe travels everyone and thanks for keeping an eye on us.

ANASTASIA STATE PARK FLORIDA

Friday night was wet and windy but Saturday morning the sun broke through the clouds.

We left Flagler Beach and headed south to Tomoka SP for an overnight stop.

On the way we stopped to watch these kite-surfers enjoying the strong winds.

If I was younger I think I would enjoy the sport.

Today we pulled into Anastasia SP and will be here for the next two weeks.

The beach looks beautiful and the sand dunes are incredible. Looks like more long beach walks are on the agenda.

Stay safe and thanks for checking in.

EXCITEMENT

As most of you know we are on the road staying at state parks in Florida. We are now the proud grandparents of grandchild #3. This little bundle of joy came into the world on November 6th at 11:30 pm weighing 9 lbs. 11 oz. Maggie is doing fine and so is Sean. We can't wait to get home and hold her in our arms.

In the meantime we are enjoying some relaxing time on the beaches of Florida.

Sunrise at Flagler Beach this morning.

Dinner on the beach last night.

Not sure when we will be able to post again as we depend on free wi-fi which some campgrounds don't have.

Thanks for keeping an eye on us.
