HUGELKULTUR

Never heard of the word until Mary came home the other day with it. It means raised garden beds and uses logs piled on top of each other to form the skeleton of the bed.

One thing we have an abundance of is logs and huge piles of old branches. I was thinking of pouring diesel fuel on the piles we have and burning them in the spring. Now we will simply rearrange them to make Hugelkultur.

Watch for pictures and a report when we actually build our own hugelkultur this spring. Do we ever do anything normal?
