Desert Education Continues

You may wonder how these pictures have anything to do with learning. I was wondering the same when I pulled them up, but then I remembered.

I couldn't figure out how to get the copyright symbol to appear on my posted pictures. Tony suggested holding the Alt key and typing 0169 put that didn't work. I then did a "google search" and got the same advice. What was I doing wrong? Another site suggested holding the Alt Key and the Fn Key and typing 0169, viola, success. Another function mastered. Now if I could just figure out how to enlarge the copyright symbol.

This picture was learning how to use the aperture dial on my camera, along with the +, - key to achieve this shot, nothing spectacular but it did improve the sky.

OK, enough education for one day. Here is what our site looked like yesterday. Looks a little permanent to me. We will be here until March so I guess it's fine to look like we have settled in. Some campers have erected those portable garage shelters, have flags flying and rocks neatly outlining what they perceive as "their property". Now that's looking permanent.

Phil has a great spot, nestled in the shade of some mesquite trees.  It's great for all of us to have our own space but be close enough to walk over and visit and socialize whenever we want. Funny how we all gravitate back to the same location we used the first time we camped in the desert. Much like a weekly gather of friends who usually sit in the same spot each week. What is it with humans? Just like in church, we prefer the comfortable pew, and that established spot is comfortable.

Pressure cookers are not new but popular this year for making one pot meals. The objective here is to make delicious, nutritious meals with as little fuel as possible and the pressure cooker allows one to achieve that.

This is Phil's creation, a curry dish with chicken, banana squash, carrots, onions, lentils, and Phil's choice of spices; delicious and doubly appreciated since Mary didn't have to prepare supper. Thanks Phil.

This is birthday month for our family and extended family. Today we celebrate Rob's birthday, Kari's birthday was the 1st, Mary and Casey's on the 6th and Bryan's on the 7th. WOW! That's a lot of cake I have to eat.

Happy Birthday Rob! We are thinking of you.
