Trail maintenance is like home maintenance, it needs to be done regularly if you want excellent trails.
Besides clearing and trimming the trails in the summer we need to do it in the winter as snow often brings the branches closer to the ground.
We mark our trails with tape. Without tape it is impossible for us to find the trails on our first winter hike. I know, tape isn't very pleasing but getting lost in the bush isn't either; so we use tape.
Time for our porridge then out for a hike.

As usual I read your blogs but don't always comment. January has been a busy and somewhat disruptive month for you. I can't imagine keeping up with all your gadgets and things. You have adapted so well to not only living in the north but doing so in such an innovative manner. As always I am in awe of your stamina, interest and positive learning curve. Keep well dear friends. I had so hoped to see you before now. Our visit will have to be once again postponed.
