DONE FOR ANOTHER SEASON

Yesterday we pulled the plug on our maple syrup production. It has turned warm and the nights are no longer below freezing.

It didn't take long for us to remove the spigots and take everything up to the cleaning station

Everything needs a thorough wash before going into storage. We worked outside and our hands froze. I'm thinking of installing a hot water line just to the right of the first window. It would be an easy installation as the bathroom is right there.

Mary saved the sap in the jugs, freezing it for consumption this summer. Apparently maple water is full of minerals and healthy compounds the body can use.

While we worked the chickens enjoyed an opportunity to get out and scratch for bugs. They stayed together and close to us which made it easy to herd them back to the coop when we were done.

Today it's raining, a good day for working indoors safely storing the equipment in our attic.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

  1. A lot of work but well worth it when you taste that pure syrup on your food. We love it on our ice cream or in a bowl to dip our bread in. Enjoy it!!
Are you feeling well Mary? I do pray for you often.
