Today was a very productive day. The weather was perfect for working outside and there were no bugs in the bobcat. Last year Steve had piled stumps along the ridge where we want to build the house. He placed them there with the excavator as he cleared the building site of trees. It was my job to move them out of the way this spring. Well today the job got done.
Typical tree stump I moved today.
Now our building site is clear and ready for the excavator.
In just a few months our house will sit in the middle of this clearing. This will be a busy summer for us.
Had one little mishap while moving the stumps. I put the bobcat up on her nose when I was attempting to move one real large stump. It happened so quickly that it threw me up against the door. No serious injury or damage, just a lesson in why I need to use the seat-belt when working with the machine.
Happy Birthday Connie! Hope you enjoyed the chocolate. OOPS! now you will have to share with Andrew.
Have a great day and drive safely.

Bobcat Returns
After a winter stored near Apsley, our "Bobcat" came home yesterday. Technically, we should call it a "skid-steer" but everyone calls them "bobcats".
It was well looked after and all the services are up-to-date, (thanks Dave) so now it's time to get to work; and these babies are designed to work and work long and hard.
Here she is being delivered to our yard, and I'm anxious to get it unloaded and see if I remember how to operate it..
Up here, we cut wood, wood, and more wood...............................................................
but once the trees are down and limbed, the bobcat takes over and hauls the logs over to the wood pile. The "grapple bucket" makes moving the logs so easy, even Mary enjoys working the bobcat.
Here Mary moves a load of gravel to build a new lane across our property.
It really is a versatile piece of equipment which makes our job of clearing bush so much easier. With the regular bucker and forks which attach so easily I know we will be keeping it busy as we build the house.
I'm off to Peterborough for a few days and will report back on Monday.
Safe travels and stay warm
