My skidsteer has been sitting stuck on a hill since January 20th. Last Saturday that all changed.
Loyd showed up with his dozer. This machine has the power to move anything. They use it back in the bush for building logging roads.
It will turn on a dime which was good as Loyd had a tight turn to make to get around the corner of the house.
If you double click on this picture you can see my skidsteer stuck at a nasty angle.
Tim hooked on the chains and Loyd put the dozer in reverse.
Safely out and on solid ground. As Steve Betson would say "Dodged another bullet"
Happy to be back moving snow once again.
Thanks Loyd and Tim for coming to my rescue. I'd be on that hill till all the snow was gone which might be June the way we keep getting more snow up here.
Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

Bobcat Training
Whenever we have the kids up they like to use the "bobcat". Yesterday, Sherri got into the cab and had her first lesson. (These pictures were taken on Sherri's Canon Powershot G12, by her unless she is in them, then I took it)
She looks a little nervous, but did just fine. Whenever they use the machine and don't tip it over, it's just fine.
Of course Mom had do give some last minute instructions.
My first bucket...................................................... and I didn't spill it. Yeah!
Steel and mortar delivered on Saturday.
Durisol Blocks. We are using these to build all perimeter walls. They come with insulation and the hollow core will be filled with concrete. The walls without additional insulation are rated R28.
Supper time and Andrew cooked "ribs and chicken". DELICIOUS!
Time to eat.
Time to relax.
Today it's time to work. The crew will soon be here and work on our "frost" wall will begin. Enjoy your week and drop by in a few days to see our progress.

Bobcat Returns
After a winter stored near Apsley, our "Bobcat" came home yesterday. Technically, we should call it a "skid-steer" but everyone calls them "bobcats".
It was well looked after and all the services are up-to-date, (thanks Dave) so now it's time to get to work; and these babies are designed to work and work long and hard.
Here she is being delivered to our yard, and I'm anxious to get it unloaded and see if I remember how to operate it..
Up here, we cut wood, wood, and more wood...............................................................
but once the trees are down and limbed, the bobcat takes over and hauls the logs over to the wood pile. The "grapple bucket" makes moving the logs so easy, even Mary enjoys working the bobcat.
Here Mary moves a load of gravel to build a new lane across our property.
It really is a versatile piece of equipment which makes our job of clearing bush so much easier. With the regular bucker and forks which attach so easily I know we will be keeping it busy as we build the house.
I'm off to Peterborough for a few days and will report back on Monday.
Safe travels and stay warm
