NEVER TOO COLD

Having a five year old in the house means our days start early and are full. Yesterday, before 7, Owen was helping  Oma make muffins.

Once the muffins were in the oven he helped grandpa make fire-starters. We use egg cartons to hold wood chips and then pour melted wax over everything; makes great fire-starters.

Even though it was very cold out Owen bundled up and we all went outside to enjoy the snow. He loves his new sleigh and has learned to lean a way out to help steer it.

Down at the lake he decided it was a good time to sing like a bird. This went on for several minutes while we enjoyed his musical interlude.

Owen is very cautious and insisted we stay close to shore as yesterday we broke through the ice when snowshoeing on our pond. Here he and Oma check for cracks in the ice.

Always the curious one here he tries to dig out a log frozen into the ground. Remember it is -25*C out and Owen is oblivious to the cold. He would have played out there all afternoon but we knew he would get frostbite if he stayed much longer.

No idea what today's plans are; we usually just go with the flow.

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for stopping by.

  2. What an adorable little guy. Grandchildren are so interesting and bring so much joy into our lives. We had every one home and I’m fascinated with the way each one has developed different personalities and interests. It turns out our 15 year old grandson Ethan loves to cook as does 20 year old Olivia. Geoff’s two boys Declan and Kieran are great conversationalist with such a vocabulary. Declan wanted all books for Christmas. He’s 11. My heart overflows with love for them all. Rachel who is 17 got her first job at Tim Hortons and loves having her own spending money. She asked for a trumpet for Christmas.Charlotte is the dancer in the family and since she was a wee girl she goes to a dance school at the University of Waterloo and we love to see her dance with the company in very extravagant recitals every year. She’s 11. There you have it, me bragging about our six. Love you both and have a very happy and healthy new year.

    1. Loved hearing about your grandkids Ruth. They are growing up so fast! Love that they spent time together at your home with you and Gord. Such interesting lives they live. Such a talented group...each in their own right. We love seeing Owen and Kate develop their own personalities as well.
