Gables and Porches

This was a much better day for working outside; hot but without the humidity so we got a lot done. Started the morning working on the west gable until noon.

We had to build the west gable out about 9 inches so the steel siding would line up with the siding on the wall below. We did this for the north gable and we should be done this one tomorrow.

If we need to rip lumber I do it on the table saw while Ben helps pull it through, or take pictures.

Ben uses the chop saw to cut the plywood to whatever length I need. This saves me a lot of climbing up and down the ladder.

Before he hands the plywood up to me he pre-drills it, inserts the screws and runs a bead of glue along the edge so it is ready for me to simply hold in place and install.

Ben knew that we needed to redo this corner and install 1x4 strips behind the J channel. So while I was working on the steel siding he, on his own, went ahead and completed this corner. What a great helper!

While we worked on the house, Mary looks after the chickens and gets lunch ready. We love her salads and the greens we get from Robert in town.

Another productive day and in a few minutes we are off to town to enjoy some local talent at "Music in the Park"

Enjoy your evening and thanks for stopping by.
