WAITING FOR MARY

Today is Mary' travel day. She is scheduled to leave the hospital at 9:30 A.M. and should be home before 2 P.M. Penny is already on top of snow mountain waiting for the ambulance to come up our driveway.

UPDATE

Mary arrived safely home before 1 P.M today.  The RNR patient transfer service was excellent. We couldn't have asked for two better people to look after Mary's transport home. They were thoughtful, on time and professional in every regard. Thank you ladies.

SHOWER SAFETY

It's been a busy morning installing safety bars in our bathroom. Mary needs these in place before she gets home so today I got the job done. The bar over the toilet was easy, no tile to drill through.

The tile in the shower was harder than concrete so it took two diamond drill bits to drill four holes.

I smothered the screws in goop to prevent water from seeping through to the drywall. Your shower stall can get very nasty with mold when that happens.

Done and secure. I may add a second bar but will see how Mary manages with this.

Mary is still at the rehab hospital but she is able to sit up in bed and use her walker to get around. All good signs of progress

Thanks for keeping an eye on us. I will let you know when Mary gets her discharge papers

UPDATE

Mary met with her doctors yesterday and they agreed she will be able to go home Friday. That is wonderful news and she can't wait to be home. Leanne will also come to help get Mary settled and to make sure the food I prepare is fit to eat.

Thanks again for all your prayers and words of encouragement. They were greatly appreciated and uplifting.

UPDATE ON MARY

Mary's surgery went well. The surgeon was pleased with the spinal re--alignment he was able to achieve. Next Tuesday, if all goes well they will move Mary to a rehab hospital in Toronto. She expects to be there for a week then home by the 24th; we shall see.

Mary is anxious to be home and we are looking forward to that day.

Thanks for all your prayers, notes and support. They mean more than you realize.

LAUNDRY BASKET TABLE

Mary is going in for more back surgery next week. She has been in severe pain since December and met with her surgeon yesterday. She will have screws and rods inserted to stabilize her spine and bring it back to proper alignment.

This means many weeks of bed rest as she recovers. We wanted a bed side table on wheels that she could manage and would tilt but they are expensive and many have poor reviews. What to do?

Today I modified an old laundry basket and so far it seems adequate for her 1-pad and for reading. I may make a few other changes to give it more stability but for now it is fine.

If I make changes I'll be sure to post them. If you have any suggestions let us know.

Remember this is an old laundry basket, so no negative comments on the discoloured base.

Stay safe and well everyone and thanks for stopping by.
