1st PLANTING

Today we planted our raised garden bed in carrots, lettuce, spinach and kale.

Mary made each row by using a stick on edge. We tried to plant the seeds according to the instructions but those seeds are so small that sometimes 3 dropped where we only wanted one. Guess we will do a lot of thinning once they start to grow.
Each row is covered with a thin board to keep in the moisture and will be removed once we see the sprouts. Of course we need to lift the board each time we water but that is easily done in a raised bed.

We don't expect to be pulling carrots for a while as they take 85 days before we can start harvesting; that puts us into the middle of October. This will be a challenge, but if we succeed they will be delicious.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

  3. Hi Sherri;

    Not sure. I ordered the seeds recommended by a grower in Quebec. I thought if he has success in his region we should too. I'll let you know the colour once they start to produce.
