Another Mine

Yesterday, Mike took the gang out to see another old cabin and mine operation here in the desert. As you can see by the pictures this is still a working mine with many of the old building still standing to some extent. Thanks for the tour Mike.

This is the miner who first worked this claim and stayed here for 63 years. Easy to get to work, the view is wonderful, just a little isolated for me.

Looking inside his stone cabin today, one finds an assortment of cast-offs and broken down equipment.

More "stuff" left here by those who visit. It has become a ritual to donate something useless to the growing pile.  Maybe people look and think they are returning what originally came from the earth. Really, I have no idea.

Looking across the valley from the mine site. This site is still mined today.

Mary, Barb and Mike examine a rock Mary has found. Our truck now is like a sail boat, lots of ballast.

Brian, wants to get a picture of me sitting on one of these, looking across the valley. NOT A CHANCE!

Would you want your picture taken, looking across the valley? Come on down, we can accommodate your wish.

Once again Mary finishes the day with a new dog (Smoky, NOT OURS) on her lap. Sherri (Smoky's owner) is here right now and they are checking dogs out on the Internet. I might be in trouble. Can you tell us anything about "Jack Russell Terrier?

Tomorrow we leave for Yuma so it might be a day or two before you hear from us. We are looking forward to the "Gypsy Rally"
