Parking attendants. They did a great job making sure everyone was parked safely and properly. Thanks to crew, cast and our behind the scene workers; without you it wouldn't have happened.

These sheep actually escaped on us, yes jumped the fence and ran for the hills. But like all good shepherds Gerry and crew got them back. Next time, higher fence.

PAGEANT: TREK to BETHLEHEM

Tonight was the first night of the pageant "TREK to Bethlehem" and we had a lot of fun.

I'll post more pictures in the morning but for now you can enjoy those in the header above. That's me top left corner playing King Herod with my guard Maximus.

Here are more pictures Mary took last night at the TREK. As you can see by the pictures the cast and crew did a fabulous job. Sunday night from 6 to 9 will be the final production.

TROPHY CATCH

Paul loves to fish. He has been very good to Mary teaching her the proper way to put on a lure, what lures to use for different fish and what equipment she needed to be successful. 

Last summer Paul caught this beauty ..............

It's a small mouth bass and they put up quite a fight.

Once the fish was hooked Paul knew it was a good size. Two broken wrists from an earlier accident weren't about to stop Paul; he was determined to land that fish regardless of the pain and now it hangs proudly on his wall. Beautiful catch Paul.

Here's a picture from last night's rehearsal. Remember to bundle up if you are coming Saturday or Sunday night. It's cold out there. Pageant runs 6 to 9 both nights.

DRYING CLOTHES

We prefer to hang the clothes outside even in winter. Sometimes that's my job and yesterday I was out there in my PJs, hat, vest and crocs hanging clothes. 

It was cold, I mean really cold and there was snow on the deck, Snow, and I was wearing crocs with holes, you know the kind designed to be worn on the beach to let the water in and out. Yesterday they let the snow in and it didn't leave just melted.

I was in a hurry, get the clothes on the line, get back inside beside the warm fire. Simple objective until .........

Ooops! There was no way I was going to retrieve those, not dressed the way I was.

So why do it ..... suffer so when we could dry everything inside where it is warm. Simple answer ....... smell.

Nothing smells better than clothes fresh off the line. Have you noticed?

Anyone coming up to stay in the bunkie? You will be like the clothes on the line ...... frozen stiff.

Winter in the north, lots of snow, temperatures consistently freezing and hot chocolate by a warm fire. Life is good in the frozen north.

MORE SNOW!

Winter has been hanging around all week giving us more white stuff than we need.  The snowmobilers will be happy.

Our forest is looking like we are the north pole; white, cold and silent. Very few critters were out and about yesterday, even the birds were grounded.

This little guy was staying close to the house.

Would you be running around in this if you were a chipmunk? I don't think so.

Mary stayed inside as well and made this bean bag to stop the drafts from the bottom of the door. Yes when it gets down to 20 below Celsius we can see the ice forming under the door. Hope this will solve that problem. 

This morning when I got up it was -28*C outside. We are still amazed that our wood stove alone can keep our house warm.

Sherri and Rob; you picked a good time to go to Jamaica. Is Owen enjoying the beach?

TRIP SOUTH

Left early yesterday, heading south to Peterborough. That's about as far south as we will get this winter.

Not the best of days to be on the road but by Apsley the sun was out and the rest of the day was beautiful.

We looked at lights for above our kitchen counter but are still undecided.

Can you guess what this is?

It's a clamp for your skis. You place your skis on the frame, clamp them down and then apply the wax; makes the job so much easier.

It was good to see Sean and Casey even if it was a short visit.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 26th.

Big surprise when we got home ....... our driveway was plowed. Thanks Paul.

Update 9 am Wednesday

Right now we are getting a major snow storm. These pictures were taken off our side deck. It's going to be a white Christmas.

If you are in Bancroft don't miss the Christmas Pageant at the L'Amable Chapel this weekend. It's a walk to Bethlehem through the woods.

POT'S ON

When the wind is blowing the snow around and the ground is frozen there is nothing better to warm up the insides than home-made soup.

This is one of those meals it's easy to do on the wood stove. We heat the house, cook a meal and stay warm all with the same log.
