MAXIMUM USE

This morning our wood stove is maxed out. Mary is making soup, also cooking berries to make Owen some healthy delicious gummy bears and there are two kettles of water reading when needed for dishes. The stove top is full and the house is warm and full of that delicious aroma one gets from home cooking.

As I type it's raining in Aldershot, snowing in Bolton and sunny up here in Bancroft. Guess we can expect snow later today.

Time to get outside and get to work.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

CLEAN-UP CREW

These two ladies were here before seven, stripping the plants of any leaves still around.

We were sitting by the fire when we first noticed them and they hung around enjoying breakfast for over an hour. This shot shows you how close they were to the house We could almost reach out the window and touch them.

He/she looks very healthy and ready for winter. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we had together. Another two weeks and they will go into hiding.

Safe travels everyone and thanks for stopping by.

A CLOSER INSPECTION

Like all machinery my skid-steer needs professional servicing from time to time. Recently I noticed the exhaust pipe was rubbing against the radiator housing; a sure sign of trouble. Yesterday Ben came over to take a look.

We flipped the cab up so he could crawl inside and check the motor and hydraulic lines.

He soon discovered that one of the motor mounts was starting to disintegrate causing the motor to shift slightly to one side. When parts shift we have a problem.

Hopefully he can get the parts and have everything installed before we get our first major dump of snow.

As Dad would say, "Always something"

Safe travels everyone and thanks for stopping by.

HARVEST TIME

Today we put the gardens to bed for the winter.

We enjoy having our garden beds just a step or two from our back door.

Mary threw in some left over seeds before we left in May to go west. She added a few tomato plants when we got home and we've enjoyed lettuce, tomatoes, spinach and kale all summer.

This is the last of the harvest. We will freeze the kale and use it in smoothies. The carrots Mary will ferment and use throughout the winter. The cilantro you see in the background will be dried and used in soups.

Days are getting colder. Our wood stove is in service most days now and we can feel winter creeping closer.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

THE GIRLS ARE BACK

The past few mornings we've had seven turkeys at our feeders. They come wandering up from the bush along our laneway and right up to the house.  This morning I saw them coming and tossed more sunflower seeds for them to enjoy. I wonder how wild turkey tastes?

CONNIE'S ART SHOW

Yesterday we attended the opening ceremonies for Connie's art show in Peterborough.

Her work is now on display until January and I encourage you to drop by the Peterborough gallery if you are in the area. The setting is right on the water and the displays are beautiful. Connie has been very busy this summer getting all her canvases ready for this show.

It's always great to have time with family and many came out to enjoy the show. Here Leanne, uncle Paul, Mary and Andrew chat. Connie is at the back of the picture chatting with an interested lady.

Two weekends in a row with family. No better way to spend a Saturday.

Safe travels everyone and thanks for stopping by.

FALL COLOURS 2018

After a lovely visit with my sisters we headed for home yesterday.

As you can see most of the leaves have fallen.

Regardless, it's still a beautiful sight to see the morning sun coming through the fall colours.

Enjoy your day and safe travels everyone.

We miss them already and they're not even home.

JUST A FEW MORE

Maggie and Sean with the Kelly side of the family. It's not often we are all together so extra nice to get a group shot on such a happy occasion.

Pictures and ceremony finished it was play time.

Maggie's niece Lauren was so good at looking after Kate. Here Kate has both hands full and was reluctant to put anything down for the chocolate candy.

She is such a sweetie and behaved so well at the wedding.

Lauren eating icing (she scraped it off the cake) while Kate enjoys whipped cream from the spray can. Oh to be young at not show all those calories.

Then it was outside for some time around the fire-pit.

Looks like the boys have the best seat in the house.

Sean and Maggie with the Inrig family. Hope we can have more gatherings together.

Gramma still enjoying the party. She did remarkably well staying right to the end.

Can you see the soother in Kate's mouth? Time to say goodbye and head for home.

It was one of those days you wish would last forever.

HOW MANY PARTS DOES THIS WEDDING HAVE?

So happy to now have three wonderful daughters. We are blessed.

Of course each has their own particular preferred boot style, although note the matching stockings.

Time to set up some games. Kate was right in there helping as best she could.

My favourite shot of Maggie.

Looks like we need a bigger couch.

Mother and son having a chat.

A day we will never forget.

Thanks everyone for making this such a special day for Sean and Maggie.

PART TWO

Maggie's grandmother Mary who will be 100 in December was there and enjoying the celebration. She baked 8 pies for dessert as well as four pies for Maggie and Sean to take west. What a sweetie.

Owen gets an extra hug from Oma. Can you tell how much she loves her grandkids.

Raining outside, dry inside, so we found a corner and enjoyed the ceremony.

Getting the official documents signed under the watchful eye of grandma.

Lots of congratulatory hugs and then .....

time for some selfies.....

and some words of advice from grandma.

Still more to come.

THEY TIED THE KNOT

I never would have thought of a barn wedding but it was a beautiful setting for a beautiful couple.

Maggie and Sean arrived early to help get everything set up just the way they wanted.

Leanne looked after the formal table and setting and Jamie made sure everything was picture perfect.

Like I said, picture perfect.

Guests began to arrive ..................

which meant hugs for Oma.

Sean checked the weather and decided the ceremony would be inside.

Let the official part begin.

I still have more pictures to sort through and will post later today once I get them organized.
