After much anticipation our bunkie arrived yesterday. Peter called once he was on Bay Lake Road just to make sure we were home.
We had prepared the site with Ben's help last week. The site was reasonably level, we just needed to position the blocks at each corner.
Then we checked the level of all corners as well as the level side to side. Everything looked ready for the bunkie.
Soon we saw it rumbling down our road, the truck cautiously driven by Peter who tried to avoid any overhanging branches that might damage the roof or side of the bunkie.
Now came the challenge; maneuvering it between the trees and placing it on the blocks we had so carefully leveled. Not an easy chore.
We offered to cut some trees to make the task easier, but Peter felt with a little wiggle here and there we should be able to get it on the blocks.
An hour later we were past the trees and positioned next to the blocks but not as close as we would have liked. Now it was time for the bobcat to lift, slid, twist and nudge the bunkie into place.
Just a little too tight.
Let's see how we get out of this tight spot.
Finally we are off the trailer but too close to the birch tree and too far away from the blocks. Now what?
Time to hook the bobcat to one end the truck to the other and see if we can slide this bunkie into position.
OK, I'm ready to pull with the truck while Peter was going to lift with the bobcat. Mary acted as the symphony director, keeping an eye on us both and making sure nothing slipped.
Good, we are getting closer.
Now, lift the front and slide it onto the block.
Finally, the bunkie has landed and we are very happy.
Thanks Peter, Edward and crew for building such a cute, functional bunkie. We love it.
Now we are almost ready for company; just need to decorate the interior and find some suitable, comfortable beds.
Hope to see you soon.
